Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started Questions

  • A Parkinson's coach is a specialised wellness professional who helps you navigate life with Parkinson's through practical, evidence-based strategies. Unlike physiotherapy / physical therapy or medical treatment, coaching focuses on empowering you to build sustainable routines, develop resilience, and maintain independence through lifestyle changes. Think of it as having someone in your corner who knows the science of Parkinson's and helps you turn good intentions into lasting habits that actually stick.

  • Parkinson’s Empowered is ideal for people living with mild-to-moderate Parkinson’s who are independent in daily activities and can safely take part in structured programs with minimal assistance. If you’re motivated to build or improve your physical wellbeing routine, this program is for you.

  • This program may not be suitable if you have severe symptoms that significantly impact mobility or daily function, experience recurrent falls, require help to exercise safely, or have other medical conditions that make exercising or taking part in activities alone unsafe.

  • Parkinson’s Empowered is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you're processing a recent diagnosis or have been living with Parkinson's for years, we start with understanding your current situation and build from there.

  • Everything within Parkinson’s Empowered is built for people at all fitness levels, from complete beginners to those already active who want to optimise their routine. Move to Thrive and the community offer exercise programs designed for novice, intermediate, and advanced levels, so you can start where you feel comfortable.

  • Yes! Everything in Parkinson's Empowered is for real life. All content is available on-demand, so you can go at your own pace. Live coaching calls in the membership are recorded if you can't attend. The program provides strategies to help you fit learning and exercise around your work and family commitments.

  • Parkinson’s Empowered was created with you in mind and considers the unique challenges experienced by those who receive a diagnosis at a younger age and the strong desire to keep living an active and full life.

My approach focuses on maintaining your active lifestyle, keeping up with kids or grandkids, and staying engaged in work and hobbies regardless of your age. The program adapts to your life circumstances, not the other way around. Even if you’re not “young,” but you’re young at heart, then Parkinson’s Empowered offerings are still for you.

  • Not at all. Parkinson’s Empowered complements, not replaces, your existing team. It helps you turn recommendations into consistent, sustainable actions that fit your life.

Think of it as being part of your broader support team. Your neurologist / movement disorder specialist, physiotherapist / physical therapist, and other healthcare professionals each play a vital role. This program supports that by helping you stay accountable, build healthy routines, and navigate your condition with clarity. It’s about collaboration, not substitution.

  • Parkinson’s Empowered is unique because it's specifically designed for the realities of living with Parkinson's. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, you'll learn to build habits that actually fit your life, energy levels, and changing needs. The focus is on progress, not perfection, with options for ongoing support to help you stay on track.

  • It’s completely normal to feel unsure about online support, especially if you're more used to face-to-face interactions. But you might be surprised by how personal, connected, and effective it can feel, and without the travel or scheduling stress.

Many people actually find it easier to stay consistent with online coaching, because it fits into their life more easily.

  • No, this is an online coaching service, not a physiotherapy or physical therapy service. I use my physiotherapy background in our work, but this is not a clinical service and cannot be presented or claimed as one.

Some insurance providers may offer coverage for wellness or coaching services under broader categories. You’ll need to check directly with your provider to see what may be available under your specific plan.

We’ve intentionally created tiered services to suit a range of budgets, so you can access meaningful support at a price point that feels manageable.

  • Yes, you can be based anywhere in the world. All our services are online.

  • Yes! Whether you're doing 1:1 sessions, joining the membership, or participating in Move to Thrive, we welcome and encourage family members or care partners to be involved. Having someone join you can be a great source of motivation and support, and we know that progress often happens best when shared. Just let us know how you'd like them to be involved, and we’ll make sure it works for you.

Move to Thrive Questions

  • Yes! Move to Thrive is open year-round, so you can join whenever you're ready.

  • Move to Thrive fits into real life, not take it over. Each week’s email takes about 30–60 minutes to watch, read, and reflect on. With exercise, the time you spend will depend on where you’re starting from. Some people begin with just 10–15 minutes a day, while others are already further along in their exercise journey. The program will help you find a rhythm that feels realistic for you—without adding overwhelm.

  • When you join Move to Thrive, you’ll access the program through the Parkinson’s Empowered App.  The series is drip-fed over six weeks, with new videos, tools, and actions unlocked each week to help you build lasting change step by step.

After completing the series, you’ll keep full access to all program materials, tools, and resources for six months, so you can revisit the content and refresh your routines anytime.

If you’d like to stay connected beyond that, you can maintain access for just $10/month, or progress into the Parkinson’s Empowered membership.  The membership is a space for deeper support that expands on your foundations.  Inside the membership, we explore not only exercise in more depth, but also other key areas of living well with Parkinson’s.

  • Move to Thrive focuses on cardio and strength training, the two types of exercise that offer the most significant long-term advantages for Parkinson's. These are the foundations that help you stay strong, mobile, and independent.

In the earlier stages, we also weave agility and balance into your current cardio and strength routines. These areas remain important throughout your journey. As symptoms change over time, there may be a gradual shift toward dedicating more energy to agility and balance work, while still keeping cardio and strength as your base.

  • We know everyone’s journey with Parkinson’s is different, and sometimes Move to Thrive may not feel like the right fit. If that happens, just get in touch. We are here to support you, suggest other options or resources, and if you decide after receiving your first week and before your second that the series isn’t for you, we can discuss a refund. This window is in place because of the intellectual property shared throughout the series.

We appreciate honest feedback. Please share your experience if you’re comfortable. Your input helps us grow and serve better. We process all refunds within 14 business days.

Please know that this doesn’t affect your connection to our community, you’re welcome back anytime. All requests and discussions are treated with confidentiality and respect.

  • You are billed immediately. It is a one-off payment for lifetime access to the Move to Thrive content (even future iterations).

  • Yes! When you join Move to Thrive, you will have access to a private group inside the Parkinson’s Empowered App that is dedicated to the series. This is your space to connect with others who are on the same journey, share wins and challenges, and know you are not doing this alone. The forum is safe, supportive, and encouraging, so you always have a place to ask questions, find motivation, and celebrate progress together.

  • Yes, you can join the membership at any time. That said, Move to Thrive helps you lay sound foundations. It’s a guided, step-by-step journey that “holds your hand” and makes getting started feel simple and achievable.

The membership includes a wide range of resources, tools, and community support. It works best once you already have some foundations in place and are ready to explore more on your own.

If you’re just beginning, we usually recommend starting with Move to Thrive so you build confidence and momentum first, and then adding the membership when you’re ready for the next layer of support.

1:1 Coaching Questions

  • One to one coaching is the most personalised support on offer. While Move to Thrive or the membership community provides structure, education, and group connection, 1:1 coaching is all about you; your life, goals and specific challenges.

It meets you exactly where you are. Whether you're newly diagnosed or further along, we'll take a thorough analysis into what matters most to you: how you want to feel, move, and show up in your day-to-day life. Together, we’ll create a plan that’s not only grounded in Parkinson’s-specific strategies but also realistic for your routine, energy, and interests.

  • Absolutely. Choosing the right support matters, and I want you to feel confident it’s a good match. If you’re unsure whether 1:1 coaching is the right fit for where you’re at, we can set up a free 15-minute call to talk it through. This is a chance to ask questions, share where you're at, and see if this feels like the right next step for you.  Just reach out via the contact form on the 1:1 services page and we will send you a link to book in.

  • Getting started is simple. If you’re ready to dive in, reach out to us via the contact form on the contact page. If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute call to ask questions and explore your options.

  • You may reschedule up to 24 hours prior to the session time without penalty. No refund will be offered regarding expired or unused 1:1 coaching sessions. All sessions expire within 12 months of purchase.

Membership Questions

  • Yes! The Parkinson’s Empowered Tribe is open year-round, so you can join whenever you're ready.

That said, we highly recommend starting with the Move to Thrive program first. It helps lay the foundations with core habits, routines, and mindset strategies that will support your long-term success in the Tribe.

  • Group coaching creates a learning environment that's more effective and more affordable than individual sessions alone:

    • Cost savings without compromise
Access expert guidance at a fraction of the cost of individual sessions while receiving the same evidence-based strategies and personalised attention during calls.

    • Learning from shared experiences
Discover strategies that work for people in similar situations, gain perspective on your challenges, and realise you're not alone in this journey. Often the most valuable insights come from fellow participants who've found creative solutions.

    • Questions you haven't thought to ask
Group calls reveal questions and concerns you might not have considered yet. When someone asks about managing exercise on low-energy days or staying motivated during symptom fluctuations, you benefit from both the question and the expert response.

    • Built-in accountability and encouragement
The gentle accountability of showing up for others, sharing progress, and celebrating wins together creates natural motivation to stay consistent.

    • Safe space for real talk
Group coaching calls provide a judgment-free environment where you can share both struggles and successes. Sometimes just knowing others are navigating similar challenges can be incredibly reassuring.

  • All live sessions and group coaching calls are recorded, so you can watch or rewatch whenever it suits you.

  • You’ll maintain access for as long as your membership remains active, your payments are in good standing, and the membership exists.

  • Monthly Membership: Cancel anytime. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing cycle, and you won’t be charged again.

Quarterly Membership: You can cancel anytime. Your membership will remain active until the end of the 3-month period you’ve paid for, and it won’t auto-renew.

Annual Membership: You’re welcome to cancel, but refunds aren’t available once payment has been made. You’ll continue to have full access until your 12-month term ends.

Practical & Technology Concerns

  • That depends on your level of fitness and where you want to do your exercises. If you’re just getting started, you will probably begin with bodyweight exercises – and that’s perfectly fine.

If you’re looking to progress (and I hope you are!), you’ll eventually want to invest in some equipment. Don’t worry, we provide simple recommendations and affordable options. You can also choose to access equipment at a local gym or join a class in your area (if available).

  • Not at all. You’ll get guidance and structure, but it’s adapted to your interests and routine. Whether you walk, swim, cycle, attend community classes, or prefer online options, we help you make it all fit into a sustainable, Parkinson’s-specific exercise plan that supports long-term progress.

  • This is exactly why the program emphasises flexibility and adaptation. You'll learn strategies for good days and challenging days, plus how to modify your routine when symptoms change. The community and coaching calls provide ongoing support for navigating these fluctuations.

  • Safety is our top priority. The program includes Parkinson's-specific safety principles, and all exercise recommendations are based on the latest evidence for people with Parkinson's. We also provide guidance on when to seek additional support from healthcare professionals.

  • Everything is simple and user friendly. If you can download an app, you will also be able to use the Parkinson’s Empowered App, where you can access Move to Thrive, membership resources and connect with the community.

For live interaction, Zoom is used for 1:1 coaching sessions and for group coaching calls within the membership. Both are straightforward to join, and we are here to help if you ever get stuck.

  • You’ll need a computer or phone with a camera and speaker, a stable internet connection, and a quiet space. The program is delivered online through a simple website portal and Zoom.
